The producers of the Warner Bros. comedy decided to redevelop the character of Joey's (Matt LeBlanc) sexy new neighbor in Los Angeles. Ashley Scott (Walking Tall, TV's Birds of Prey), who played the character in the pilot.
Ashley's scenes were reshot once the creators of the series, Shana Goldberg-Meehan and Scott Silveri, tweak the concept for the character and recasted it. The pilot scored high marks in its audience.

Helena Kyle / Huntress Birds of Prey

Helena Kyle is the Huntress. A female crime fighter
in a post-Batman Gotham City. Her background, or at
least her birth, seems to resemble that of her Pre-Crisis
comic book counterpart. If you know a little about
Batman, her last name should be half a clue to her
lineage. Helena Kyle is the daughter of Selina Kyle
(a.k.a. Catwoman). Her father was Bruce Wayne/Batman.
She is aligned with former Batgirl, Barbara Gordon
who is now known as the Oracle.
Huntress is a metahuman (as was her mother who is
a take off of the Batman Returns version of Catwoman).
She is extremely athletic and can modify her vision.
Lara S.W.A.T.
Her
boyfriend, Jim Street, was a member of the S.W.A.T. team
and her brother was a cop too. Around the time her boyfriend
got demoted the relationship went bad and she moved out.
At first brother blamed Jim, but when the two of them
got recruited to a new S.W.A.T. squad together, he got
to liking Jim again and told him he should call his sister
because she was currently dating some new Knuckle Head
(that he didn't sound to fond of). Jim said he would
call, but we never found out if he did.
Asha Barlow Dark Angel
Asha Barlow (who went through several name changes before
she ever hit the screen) was part of a group of radicals
formed to expose government corruption in San Francisco
(S1W). In 2020 things
got too hot for the group at home. Since she was an old
friend of undercover cyber-jounalist "Eyes
Only" /Logan Cale in 2020 she fled to Seattle. She grew
close to Logan as herself and other S1W members helped
in his quest. Neither herself or any of the others figured
out Logan was the actual eyes of "Eyes Only" and not just
working for him as they were.
Upon the return of his lost love, Max, there relationship
became strained. She nearly got involved with her own genetically
enhanced solider, Alec (Jesen Ackles), but the timing was
bad and it didn't work out. Asha has distanced herself
from Logan.
Gigilo Jane

Joe waddyah know"
Gigolo Jane was a companion line, somewhat to the
Gigolo Joe (Jude Law) line. It seems in the future
you can get a realistic artificially intelligent bot
(a Mecha) for just about anything and Gigolo Jane was
a female "love bot".
Like Joe, once people became afraid of the artificially
intelligent race of almost-human robots, she was forced
to make her own way on the streets.
