Actress Ashley Scott is a chick's chick.

She gives it straight up, has a killer sense of humour, a great laugh, and her voice is to-die-for sultry with a bit of a Southern lilt. A chameleon with her wardrobe, she's as stunning in hippie chick as she is in rocker style with her newly dyed raven mane.

You'll be seeing a lot of her this fall in the new action-adventure series Birds of Prey. She plays the Huntress, the secret daughter of Batman and Catwoman. If you're not familiar with the comic book of the same name, the story goes a little like this: Set in New Gotham, long after Catwoman has been killed and Batman has fled, the Huntress joins Batgirl and newcomer the Black Canary to form a trio of beautiful crime fighters.

ON GOING TO THE DARK SIDE

I'm a blond, but I dyed my hair dark for the show. IT was right after my boyfriend (Ashton Kutcher of That '70's Show) and I had broken up -- of all times to change your 'do! It was kind of frightening. It's a whole different kind of person that's attracted to you -- a nice change. I have to wear more makeup because I feel a little washed out, but other than that I'm getting into the dark hair now.

ON HER CHILDHOOD ADVENTURES

As a child I remember going to the movies and for days pretending like I was that character. Like Annie, I was Annie for weeks. I was constantly taking on characters and playing dress up. I played by myself a lot and had a really great imagination. I was always was off on some adventure.

ON HER NEW GIG

It's going to be a fun show. Hopefully I can do a good job. It's a great cast, an incredible cast, and hottie-cake Shemar Moore's in it, too.

ON "BECOMING" THE HUNTRESS

To learn basic stances and fighting techniques, we started with karate and tae kwon do. We also had a wonderful stunt coordinator who trained us for all the fights.

ON BULKING UP

I'm not a workout girl. In my family, we are all skinny. But superheroes aren't twiggy -- they've gotta have a little meat on their bones. So I've got a personal trainer and I've been eating like crazy just trying to gain weight. And I have a pool, so I do laps.

ON LISTENING TO HER BODY

I'm becoming so active that I'm hungry all the time. So I try to eat a lot of little meals all day. I eat fairly healthy though, I don't really drink sodas. I drink lots of water, a lot of juices. I like vegetables; I eat red meat and a lot of chicken. Pretty much, I eat what my body tells me to. I think that's healthy. Your body will tell you what it wants and what it doesn't.

ON STRESS BUSTING

I'm taking horseback riding lessons again, which I haven't done since I was a kid. It's awesome. It takes my mind off whatever's bothering me. It's a really great sport for me. It's freeing.

ON GOING GRANOLA

I'm from South Carolina so I was brought up eating fatty foods and not exercising. Then I came to California where everybody's into Zen and yoga. I mocked it for a while, but I think they've got something going on. It's nice to take care of your body. I've told my roommate, though, that she'd have to shoot me if I started drinking skim milk.

ON DATING

Girl, I'm workin' it. I can't be tied down. I got a new 'do (laughter)! But dating is hard, it's difficult to find somebody you jive with. Before you can be good to someone else, you have to be good to yourself. I'm 25, granted, in some people's eyes that's old, but at that age, you're just starting to know yourself. And you really need that space. We all tend to kind of go from relationship to relationship. Have a relationship with yourself first. In the long run, I believe in things working, I believe in giving it my best shot.

ON INFINITE RELATIONS

I have a great respect for my belief and everyone else's -- I think we all end up in the same place anyway. I have my own great relationship with God. I may not be at the end of my bed praying every night, but he hears from me at least five, six times a day. I might be hollerin' at him, but I'm still talking to him. God's got a great sense of humor.

ON HER GOLDEN RULE

My mom used to say, "Don't bring your bad mood in the house. Take your bad mood coat off and put it outside the door and come inside. If you want to put it back on when you leave, that's fine." I used to hang my coat a lot.

ON PERSONAL STYLE

I'm Southern, so I was raised to never leave the house without my hair and makeup done. My closet's just insane. I love to play dress-up. I have so many afros and wigs and hats, which I do wear out, but I really like classic things.

ON MAKEUP ESSENTIALS

For everyday life, I like a very simple, classic look. I wear lip gloss and mascara. I don't make it too heavy.

ON HER FAVOURITE SCENT

I just wear Johnson & Johnson Baby Lotion. I love it, it's my favourite. I've been using it every day since I was a little girl. I'm pretty simple when it comes to all that.

ON COMMON NECESSITIES

I like to be pampered. Everybody deserves a good rubdown every once in a while. I love getting massages.

ON SHEDDING HER SKIN

I had a microdermabrasion done in Vancouver. It takes a layer of your skin, so if you've broken out or have discolouring, it takes that all away. That's as close to heavy duty as I go. But I was a total sucker for it. I thought it was fantastic.

ON HER FRIENDS

When I came to LA, all of my best friends had moved out here. So we have this great crew and it's just good lovin'. My whole life I just bopped around, which is why I have so many friends because I made new ones wherever I went. I'm so content now because finally I'm just in one place and everybody's here.

ON HAPPINESS

If there's something in your life that you want to change, change it. Quit complaining. It makes your life miserable; it makes everyone else's life miserable around you. That's just the way I live. I live in the moment. It makes me a happy person.

ON BEING A SOUTHERN BELLE

All my girlfriends came over Saturday night and had a slumber party. We had a couple glasses of wine, ate, laughed and slept over in our pajamas like we were kids. The next day we had a Ya-Ya Sisterhood luncheon. We dressed up in our Ya-Ya lovely southern hats and gloves. It was so much fun.

"I like pretty, but not too feminine. I don't like gaudy, I don't do lace, I don't do ruffles. I like to go rocker, sometimes, or really hippied out. I have a wide range."
