National upheaval caused by a nuclear assault? Easy. Nielsen ratings? Hard. Despite efforts from zealous fans to keep Jericho alive — including the now-famous peanut incident — Tuesday's episode will be its last.
"The March 25 episode... will be the series finale," CBS entertainment boss Nina Tassler says in a statement. "Without question, there are passionate viewers watching this program; we simply wish there were more. We thank an engaged and spirited fan base for keeping the show alive this long, and an outstanding team of producers, cast and crew that went through creative hoops to deliver a compelling, high-quality second season.... We're proud of everyone's efforts." :
Aw, (pea)nuts. Despite getting a fan- (and legume-) powered reprieve, CBS has given the heave-ho to Jericho. Unfortunately, follow-through doesn't appear to be Jericho fans' strong suit. The show has continually been on the losing end of the Nielsen fight since its relaunch last month.
Jericho averaged 6.8 million viewers through its first six episodes this season (the finale will be the seventh), in the neighborhood of other CBS un-favorites like Viva Laughlin (6.5 million—for one episode) and Welcome to theCaptain (6.3 million). Last season, when it got canceled the first time, Jericho averaged 9.2 million for a 23-episode season. That's a loss of nearly 2.5 million viewers, or 26 percent of its audience. Most every show is down this year, but that's even worse than usual. Jericho does, however, continue to be a bankable hit online, both as one of CBS' Innertube's most-watched shows and as an iTunes performer. The second-season premiere sold more than 700,000 copies, making it one of iTunes' most downloaded shows.
Q: How did you feel when you heard the show was coming back?
A: Spectacular! It represented what Jericho is really about: people standing up and taking care of business. It's a bit surreal though. I feel like Ashton Kutcher is going to jump out and say it's a joke! - Read all the interview here.
In 2006, Jericho Season One was one of many new shows with its first episode or so leaked to the media and across the Internet for early viewing. The same now seems to hold true for Jericho Season Two. At least three episodes can be found on the Internet. Maybe more.
Sometimes, networks, studios and producers do leak information and complete episodes to generate additional buzz and excitement for a show, especially if they lack confidence in the product and/or promotion. (Then again, BitTorrent continues to see an increase in intentionally leaked network shows, regardless of merit.)
For me, there doesn’t seem to be any logical reason for CBS to intentionally leak Jericho, which has survived almost a year as the most-talked about show without a schedule in the last decade, maybe history. But that's not to say CBS doesn’t make mistakes now and again, especially when it treads the unfamiliar territory that surrounds this crazy town in Kansas.
If anything, an intentional and 3-deep leak for this show would have risked much more than it could ever hope to gain, potentially derailing all efforts that have been mounting buzz around the countdown. Worse, it could be a disaster if non-fans circumvent fan efforts by harshly critiquing these shows simply because they can.
As I’ve said throughout this campaign, there are some people who would like Jericho to fail, especially those who despise popular movements and, well, social media in general.
What To Do About It
From the fan perspective, pretend it doesn’t matter. Focusing on the leak is nothing more than a buzz kill for the countdown excitement, which is where it will matter most to capture Nielsen families.
If the leak becomes the only news, and it might, then it could trump consumer marketing efforts much like child labor law news damaged Kid Nation. In other words, staying the course seems smart for fans, even if it is only out of feelings for solidarity.
Besides, many fans have been working hard to drum up some interest on their own with some worthwhile ideas slowly taking hold as their first prize is only weeks away. I suggest people let them do it their way. It’s their show as much as anybody else.

Ashley to the Fans - Sun, 29 Jul 2007 09:18:25
To the greatest fans in the world,
I can't thank you enough for what you've done. You have spent your time, your own money and your die hard effort to save this show. You are an inspiration to me. I'm proud that you stood up and fought for what you believe in. And you won. Your passion mirrors what we are doing in Jericho - fighting for what is right. It is our promise to make a supreme show for you.
1:15-2:15 Jericho—The CBS drama about how residents of a small, peaceful, Kansas town band together to survive in the wake of a nuclear explosion, will return to the network. Be the first to see never before seen footage from the second season, exclusive clips and outtakes from Season 1 and extras from the DVD out in October, followed by a panel discussion with series stars Skeet Ulrich (Scream), Lennie James (Sahara), Ashley Scott (Dark Angel), executive producer Carol Barbee (Judging Amy), co-executive producers Karim Zreik and Dan Shotz, and producer Jon Steinberg. Room 6CDEF.
03.Jul.2007. A message from Carol Barbee, Executive Producer, Jericho.
Dear Jericho Fans,
You did it. You brought JERICHO back. You have accomplished something that has only ever been done once before in television history. And you did it by becoming a passionate, articulate, creative, undeniable force. You people rock.
At some point in the future, maybe you could work on that world peace thing. I really think you could get it done.
But first things first.
CBS will be rebroadcasting episodes of JERICHO starting this Friday, July 6 at 9pm. We need you all to tune in. We need your friends to tune in. We need people who missed us the first time around to tune in and see what all the fuss is about. Most importantly, we need CBS to see that they were right to renew us. So, what do you say? Up for another challenge?
We, at the show, are forever in your debt. We hope the seven new (unbelievably awesome) episodes we are in the process of making will go towards repaying that debt, as well as getting us a third season. In the meantime, we’ll see you Friday nights at 9pm.
WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The newest issue of Salon City hits newsstands today, with an exclusive cover featuring Jericho star Ashley Scott. Salon City editors chose Ashley because she reflects the issue's theme of "relaunching the American dream" with the energy and enthusiasm that identifies the All-American Girl. Said Salon City, Inc. (OTC:SLON - News) President and CEO Steven Casciola, "It was a pleasant surprise to see that Jericho's fans are so passionate about keeping the show on the air. We didn't know what CBS was going to announce, so this makes Ashley's appearance on our cover even more gratifying.
"In an impressive display of support for Jericho, more than 50,000 fans petitioned to keep the show. On June 6, CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler issued a release committing the network to seven more episodes of the show for midseason next year.
Tassler stated, "We are working on several initiatives to help introduce the show to new audiences. This includes re-broadcasting Jericho on CBS this summer, streaming episodes and clips from these episodes across the CBS Audience Network (online), releasing the first season DVD on September 25 and continuing the story of Jericho in the digital world until the new episodes return."
Miss Scott is featured in an exclusive Salon City interview with Casciola, as well as a 6-page fashion shoot. Said Casciola, "The same passionate fan base that loves Ashley and Jericho is part of our target audience at Salon City. These are people who go the extra mile for what they believe in -- a perfect match for what our magazine and company do as well."
"Paris Roundup: Hilton Looks Forward to 'A Good Meal'
SUNDAY JUNE 24, 2007 05:55 PM EDT
Photo by: Los Angeles County Sherrif / AP
Paris Hilton got a visit from actress Ashley Scott (TV's Jericho) on Sunday night – her final visit before she leaves jail Tuesday.
Scott, 29, arrived around 7:15 and stayed for 45 minutes. Was it an emotional visit? "Yes, of course," she said afterwards. "You can't touch or hug. It's hard."
What's the first thing Paris wants to do after being released? "Eat!" said Scott. "She's looking forward to eating."
The actress added that jail hadn't taken a toll on her friend's physical appearance: "She looks gorgeous!" she said. "She looks stunning."
Her mindset right now? "She's learned a lot about herself," said Scott. "She's strong. She's very excited about getting out and eating a good meal."
A very funny thank you to the volunteers on the Save Jericho Campaign video from three cast members of the series - Brad Beyers, Bob Stephenson and Richard Speight Jr.e

Many people is asking why Ashley hadn't post anything at Jericho forum when other actors had done it already, I think that reading this article, many of us wold understand. For her, to sit to read or write something it's a real problem because she is Dyslexic, for that reason her work as an actress is really a lesson of courage, it takes her five more times than a normal person to read something. She explains too, the meaning of her tatoo on her back and says she is still happy married with her husband Anthony Rhulen, according with the adaption of last year's issue 16 from Lucire magazine. Please read.
The beer-drinking might be slightly at odds with Scott’s newfound interest in yoga (‘I just went to my first yoga class—it was awesome. I walked out feeling so good’) and her phoenix tattoo on her lower back with the Chinese ideographs for ‘strength, destiny, love and courage’.
WE DID IT!!!! CBS IS BRINGING IT BACK!! THANKS TO ALL RANGERS!! thanks SHAUN, SCHUMI and JEFF!!!
20 TONS OF NUTS, $54820 USD!!!!
LETTER FROM CBS:
To the Fans of Jericho:
Wow!
Over the past few weeks you have put forth an impressive and probably unprecedented display of passion in support of a prime time television series. You got our attention; your emails and collective voice have been heard.
As a result, CBS has ordered seven episodes of "Jericho" for mid-season next year. In success, there is the potential for more. But, for there to be more "Jericho," we will need more viewers.
A loyal and passionate community has clearly formed around the show. But that community needs to grow. It needs to grow on the CBS Television Network, as well as on the many digital platforms where we make the show available.
We will count on you to rally around the show, to recruit new viewers with the same grass-roots energy, intensity and volume you have displayed in recent weeks.
At this time, I cannot tell you the specific date or time period that "Jericho" will return to our schedule. However, in the interim, we are working on several initiatives to help introduce the show to new audiences. This includes re-broadcasting "Jericho" on CBS this summer, streaming episodes and clips from these episodes across the CBS Audience Network (online), releasing the first season DVD on September 25 and continuing the story of Jericho in the digital world until the new episodes return. We will let you know specifics when we have them so you can pass them on.
On behalf of everyone at CBS, thank you for expressing your support of "Jericho" in such an extraordinary manner. Your protest was creative, sustained and very thoughtful and respectful in tone. You made a difference.
32,473 lbs of nuts, worth $44,560, have been ordered online!!! ALMOST 100,000 SIGNATURES!!
SCHUMI SAYS-The campaign had an article about it on the front of the entertainment section of the New York Times. That’s our second Times article in 2 days. If you heard Michael Gaston last night on Shaun’s show – you can have a hit on Broadway and not get 2 articles in the Times.
LES MOONVES COMMENTS AT D CONFERENCE
Not important –
The comment about the filtering of emails is no big deal. We knew 2 weeks ago they were doing that. Each time they have adjusted the email filters – the tech savvy Jericho Rangers have gotten around them. The comment only serves to strengthen our resolve. Let it.
Important –
That interview appeared as a blog post on the Wall Street Journal. Many of you were not amused with Mr. Moonves’ comments. Two weeks ago – there would have been ranting and raving on a message board. Yesterday – in 6 hours, you all posted 161 pages of articulate comments stating what you thought of the statements and why you wanted the show to return. You told OUR side of the story. As we’ve said all along: WE WILL BE HEARD.
They are meeting this week to discuss the fate of the show. We have no idea what is going on behind closed doors right now. Mr. Moonves could have slammed Jericho, expounded on why it failed and the cancellation was justified. He didn’t. He could have summarily dismissed our efforts to save the show. Instead, to the extent that he probably can, he complimented us - admiring our passion.
Like the NYT business section article Tuesday, the WSJ is serious media. Decision makers and bean counters in Hollywood live and die by these publications. They are front and center on all their desks. CBS cannot afford to have this fight waged on that front. This has become about more than a television show. On our side we are arguing not only for the show, but for every quality show out there and for every viewer to be heard. For CBS – this has stopped being about Jericho. We have made it about headlines for them – and headlines are about image. We must convince them to chose the one that says that shows CBS cares – Jericho Lives.
CAMPAIGN APPROACH
It’s working. We have been told that. We have been told to focus on CBS and stay the course. We are on track and having an impact. We would not continue to ask for letters, email, phone calls, nuts – if we did not know it is making a difference. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t prepare additional ideas. A lot of you want to look to the sponsors. OK. It’s an uphill climb and I’m not sure that we have the kind of time. If we want to involve a sponsor – we have to pick one. We have to pick a sponsor, approach them in a professional manner, layout why involvement in our campaign is beneficial to the sponsor, what we can do for them, and what we would like them to do for us. This is a lot of work and we must all work together – not everyone running off to a different sponsor.
Start ONE thread to discuss it (ok – maybe one thread on CBS, Rally, IMDB and the other major Jericho boards)
Post your suggestion as to which sponsor, what the angle would be, why it would be beneficial to that sponsor
Debate the options on the thread.
STAY ON MESSAGE
Jericho is a quality program cast aside. We want it back on CBS – If a full season is not possible, then as a mid-season replacement. This must be the message not only to CBS, but distributed in ALL the media coverage we get. The story isn’t the NUTS. It was never the nuts. It’s the message. Why are we shipping tons of nuts around the country – We want CBS to hear us, listen to us, and save our quality show – Jericho.
STAY ON TARGET
All our attention right now MUST be focused on CBS directly.
BE POSITIVE AT ALL TIMES
Ignore negativity, naysayers, and rumors at all costs. A true Ranger who has become disheartened will get more positive boost from seeing everyone active, working together and fighting hard – than anything else. Do not be distracted by negative threads and posts. They are not worth the distraction. We do not have the time to waste on them – none of us do. Temporarily remove the term troll from your vocabulary. It has been come the most derogatory word on the board and itself is a distraction – we can’t afford those right now. Just because someone voices concern or a difference of opinion doesn’t make them one. If you find a poster continually disruptively negative – use the IGNORE feature and the problem will be solved.
Rumors are just that – rumors. DIG DEEP-FIGHT HARD until you hear the word direct from CBS. Who knows what was said out of the affiliates meeting or any place else. Everything I have been told is that they are still discussing this and that NO decision has been made. I don't think it would be just tossed out at an affiliates meeting. Trust me when it comes – the world will know it.
We need everyone of you in this effort and we need you to bring more people to it - not just current Jericho fans.
Entertainment Weekly's front page!: At the Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End premiere in Hollywood, Ashley Scott, who played Emily Sullivan, told EW's Carrie Bell how she felt about Jericho's cancellation: "It infuriates me. It is not fair to people who watched because we didn’t wrap it up because we thought we were coming back. Now viewers will never get a chance to know the whole story of the bombs and what happened or what is going to happen to these townspeople. It is just rude and I think people are going to stop watching shows like that because they keep getting shafted by these serials that they get into, then they get canceled and they never get any closure."
Contributions to variety add total $ 7200.36!! in 342 DONATIONS. Our Goal Was - $6905.00 (Does not include PayPal processing fees or pledged, but unreceived, cheques)
OPERATION RELENTLESS
Send letter or postcard - be sure to include demographic information as well as all the many places you watch Jericho (live, on demand, innertube, itunes, dvr, etc....)
Send NUTS if you can - CBS NY & LA offices only however; send pictures of nuts if you can't; heck someone even sent a Nut (the hardware type) I read on a thread last night
1 phone call to each number (Nina, then Kelly, then CBS main #s if possible) - you can repeat with multiple phone numbers if you wish - but only once to each number with each phone
OPERATION RECRUITMENT
Spend as much time on the CBS board and Rally Point as possible - more eyes than CBS's are on it to see what we're about and if we're serious about this campaign, but also if we're serious about Jericho so don't be afraid to have some none SAVE JERICHO discussions either
Recruit 5 people - We can't stress this enough. This fight is about #s. We need as many people as possible sending letters, postcards, nuts and making phone calls as possible these next several days. Tell 5 people who don't know about the fight - Why you love Jericho and are fighting for it. If they are fans of the show, pass along the addresses and phone numbers - or send them to http://www.jericholives.com/. Ask them to pass the recruitment request along to 5 people they know. If they've never heard of it due to its under promotion - send them to innerTube or lone them your tapes/discs to be able to watch it for themselves. If they like it, ask them to comment to the network.

LOOKING AT THE CANCELLATION OF CBS' JERICHO AND FANS' INCREDIBLE FIGHT TO SAVE THE SERIES by Mike Johnson @ 10:29:00 AM on 5/22/2007 - www.pwinsider.com
In the beginning of the movement last week, CBS stood to their cancellation, noting that the series' engine "wasn't working." Well, as any Jericho fan would point out, the series lost a chunk of its audience during a break over two months, which hurt the audiences on nearly every show on every network that followed a similar path. During its hiatus, Jericho was replaced by "Armed & Famous" the celebrity turned cop reality show that couldn't even survive its own planned six episodes. Jericho was never promoted by the network (sounds familiar to ECW fans from the TNN era, eh?) and when it returned it was up against some little known series known as...American Idol.
New Jersey's Jeffrey Braverman, who owns NutsOnline.com began realizing they were receiving a number of orders from Jericho fans to ship to CBS. Initially dismissing it as silliness, Braverman began changing his tune while talking to some of the fans who were placing phone orders. Braverman soon realized that these were fans who were not loony or completely nuts over a failed sci-fi series but instead crossed all walks of life and background. Braverman, who has never seen the series but became interested after learning about it from customers, set up a designated page for fans to not only support the series with orders but to donate any amount of money with the idea of sending the nuts wholesale to CBS.
While Braverman is a smart businessman, he's also provided an outlet for fans to let their money do their talking in dramatic fashion to CBS. As of this writing, $5,253 worth of nuts (racking up to an insane 3,758 pounds) have been ordered, with the first delivery set to descend upon CBS' headquarters on West 52nd Street in New York City this afternoon.
Fans of Jericho from around the world - your voices are extremely important - let CBS know how many of you are really out there. You dont count in the US Nielsen ratings and US viewer numbers of 8 million.
Send post cards, letters, send nuts if you can - even metal ones !! to CBS (you can skip the bolts).
Show CBS how much international appeal Jericho has - and make it a point to say you will buy the DVD of Season 1 when it is issued (multiple copies if possible)
REALITY CALL BOYCOTTING CBS.
Lots of us have been boycotting CBS since the cancellation of Jericho. Even any CBS affialtes, SHOWTIME and all cables that they own, since CBS loves reality show so much, they should appreciate this REALITY CALL BOYCOTTING CBS.
We have read your emails over the past few days and have been touched by the depth and passion with which you have expressed your disappointment. Please know that canceling a television series is a very difficult decision. Hundreds of people at the Network, the production company and the incredibly-talented creative team worked very hard to build and serve the community for this show -- both on-air and online. It is a show we loved too.
Thank you for supporting Jericho with such passion. We truly appreciate the commitment you made to the series and we are humbled by your disappointment. In the coming weeks, we hope to develop a way to provide closure to the compelling drama that was the Jericho story.
Sincerely,
Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment
My opinion: the show started in November 2006. Viewership had dropped off when Jericho returned in late February, after 12 weeks of no episodes -- not even reruns -- Could any network have been surprised that the show -- any show -- would lose viewers when it disappears for three months? This is not how you build an audience, plus, they put the show to fight ratings gains American idol... please!! The answer of mMrs. tasles for me, it's a joke.
May.15.2007. Jericho canceled. I'm not sure if I feel sad or not, Ashley didn't have many lines in the show and we want watch her in an action role as BOP. Ashley, we hope you get a much better role in another Tv show. Tv Guide: CBS isn't talking, but reliable sources say that the Eye net has dropped the C-bomb on Jericho. Those same sources are telling me that the show's exec producer Carol Barbee is thisclose to a deal to join one of CBS' new fall pilots as showrunner
April.21.2007. We only can watch Ashley's in Jericho a few seconds per week, this is so sad. Would be great watch her in another action role as Birds of Prey.
March.21.2007. Check out her latest interview in Starlog Magazine's April 2007 issue. She talks about BOP and why the show was cancelled. Curiously, almost all her interviews are titled: "Great Scott." (Thanks to capturingskeet.com)
March.16.2007. Ashley won't be on the Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC tonight. Her appearance has been cancelled. Crawlie e-mailed the show and they said it hasn't been rescheduled yet...
March.15.2007. Check out our Public Events 2007 Galleries! Ashley at the Museum of Television and Radio in LA on March 13 - Wondercom on March 4th and with John Varvatos on March 11....
March.13.2007.Ashley Scott is at the Museum of Television and Radio in LA today!!! 7 P.M. If someone talks with Ashley, please ask her where we can send her fan mail and if her agent could provide us info about her.Send us an e-mail.
I finally got a picture signed by her. The address that works is the CBS one in Van Nuys, CA, posted in the'About us' section. Remember to send her the picture you want signed, as well as a SASE.
UGO: Do you still have fans from the Birds of Prey series?
AS: "Yeah. It's been amazing. It's blown me away. People have been so dedicated
and so wonderful and so supportive and honest and lovely. I'm not a big
Interneter, but through the years some of the things the fans have done have
been great. It's really sweet that people really love what you did and look
forward to what you're about to do."
Sasha Azevedo said Ashley is on the cover of a hair magazine this month. Go to the magazine store, guys! If you see it, check the name and the issue and please send us an email so we can get it.
Performances by the top 10 women on "American Idol" posted a 17.0/26 at 8 p.m. CBS' "Jericho" was the best of the rest with a 5.6/9. "Friday Night Lights" drew a 3.6/6 for NBC, edging "George Lopez" and "The Knights of Prosperity" on ABC. "Top Model" began its eighth edition with a 3.2/5 for The CW.
Feb.28.2007 Foreign fans of Ashley are once again out of luck... according to CBS, we don't deserve to watch Jericho episodes and enjoy the talk show. I am only posting this for Ashley, not CBS: The Online JerichoTalk Show. The final talk show takes place on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 10am to 11am, pt. Ashley Scott and Carol Barbee will be joined by Entertainment Weekly's Lynette Rice. It will stream live at http://www.cbs.com/jericho.

Feb.12.2007. (Tks SGH!!) On CBS's Jericho website, the Executive Producers were interviewed (you can watch it on Innertube). Here's what Carol Barbee had to say about Ashley when she came in to audition. "Ashley Scott when she came to meet with us, the character (when) most people were coming in were sort of the more small town/sweet girl and that's lovely but Ashley came in and she's got that sweetness, she does. But she's also got that bad girl thing that you believe that she and Jake got into some trouble in high school. And it was so much more interesting that when she left we were like 'we gotta have her!'. And she's gorgeous."
Feb.11.2007. Ashely was one of the best dressed in the People Choice's awards.
